HOW WE CAN ACHIEVE INCLUSIVE REDEVELOPMENT

OUR PATH TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL RESIDENTS, WOMEN AND RACIAL MINORITIES TO BECOME MAJOR DEVELOPERS:

Policies

Policies instituted by appropriate government agencies that include criteria for designating areas in need of redevelopment and for qualifying redevelopers within disinvested communities that is community-driven and participatory and that require significant ownership and control by women, local residents, and racial minorities as a prerequisite for obtaining subsidies for redevelopment.

Public-Private-Partnerships (P3)

Philanthropy/nonprofit/CDFIs/banks partnering with city agencies in supplying subsidies, grants, tax credits, impact investment, other traditional financing, and technical assistance to redevelopment projects owned, led and controlled by racial minorities, women, and local residents.

Legislation

Legislation at the local, state, and federal-level mandating the participation of local residents, minority, and/or women developers in major redevelopment projects within historically disinvested communities in exchange for tax benefits and other subsidies.

Local & National Inclusive Redevelopment Networks

Networks and coalitions formed by neighborhood developers within major cities across the country in order to advance local and national inclusive redevelopment policies, legislation, and technical assistance for local residents, women, and racial minorities to become major redevelopers within their communities.
